INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. The Indianapolis Colts want to expand their training facility on the citys northwest side.
Colts Chief Operating Officer Pete Ward says the team wants to expand player areas, including the locker room, training room, equipment room and strength and conditioning areas to bring them into the 21st century and give our equipment guys more space.
The Colts training complex, called the Indiana Farm Bureau Football Center, is located at7001 West 56th Street.
The expansion will also include a new outdoor turf field to add to the two natural grass fields and indoor turf field already in place. A new pavilion/cafeteria is also being planned because new interior upgrades will cut into the current pavilion. That will not be completed until late 2018.
We are essentially enhancing and improving our player-related areas, but we also will have to build another pavilion because were losing the old one, said Ward.
The new turf field will go in front of the complex, replacing a golf course.
Construction will begin after this season. The expanded player areas are expected to be don at the end of training camp.
Ward did not say how much the expansion would cost.
The indoor facility will be unchanged, Ward said. From a look standpoint, well just be adding a new pavilion to the parking lot.
