A Brisbane womans 30th birthday celebration has turned into a living nightmare after a scooter accident left her leg in bits and pieces. Worse, her travel insurance policy wont cover her huge bills.Stacey Liddle, from Kallangur, is at a hospital in Phuket, Thailand, after being hit by a bus, which left her with a punctured lung and the scary possibility of losing her leg.I remember looking down and thinking I might as well have not had a leg, it was in bits and pieces, Liddle told 9NEWS via Skype. Liddle was told by Thai surgeons that shell lose the limb, but she remains hopeful that Brisbane specialists may be able to save it.The flight that would bring Liddle to a Brisbane hospital would cost her $35,000 this in addition to the medical bills that she needs to pay for the hospital and ambulance services in Thailand. The travel insurance policy that should have helped her with her predicament cant offer her any relief. The policy contains a clause that states that if shes injured while riding a scooter, she wont receive a payout. Its definitely not what I expected and it could have been avoided if I read the fine print, Liddle said.Time is crucial to Liddles case. In the three days after her cousin set up a fundraising page to help pay for the bills, $4,000 has been raised, but an additional $30,000 is still needed to bring Liddle home, 9News said.
