What do you get when you combine millions of people in 14 states, millions more people from all over the world, 11 spacecraft, three aircraft, astronauts in space and the first total solar eclipse to cross the entire United States in 99 years? The Great American Eclipse! The presentation on Thursday, November 9 at 7:00 p.m., by Michelle Nichols of the Adler Planetarium, will highlight images, video and amazing experiences from this spectacular total solar eclipse which took our area by storm on August 21.
Nichols has been employed by the Adler Planetarium as a Master Educator on NASA Forum Programs for more than 20 years, and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in physics and astronomy from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a Master of Education degree from National-Louis University. She has worked at the U.S. Space Camp, the Staerkel Planetarium at Parkland College in Champaign, Illinois, and the Astronaut Memorial Planetarium in Cocoa, Florida.
