How much is house insurance?

Basically I want to know because my friend at work doesn't have yahoo answers and no one in the office knows... He has a collection of star wars collectables worth around £5-10,000 he is not sure but say £10k to be safe.
How much extra would he need to pay on house insurance to cover these? As if he were to be robbed he would like to have peace at mind for them.
Any help would be great.

He would need additional coverage on his home owners or renters insurance policy. To add a scheduled Item and or items in his case he would list them/give a description of the collection. Then he would list the amount he would like them covered for (Each company is different. Some require appraisals others just need description).
I would recommend calling around to local insurance agents to request quotes.

He would need to purchase a special "amendment" to the Policy. His collection would have to be appraised by the insurance company and they would suggest a special premium (which might cost him more than his basic home insurance...)

In very broad terms, expect to pay about $35 per month for every $100,000 of home value. You should also call the company to ask how you can lower your rates (by installing a security system, for example), and consider raising your deductible (if you have the savings to pay the higher deductible, if needed). The estimate for cost is normally extraordinarily cheap.

that kind of asset would need to have a certified appraisal made that he can retain for any future occurrence
the insurance rate will be based on where he is, how the asset is stored, the certified value etc. the rates will vary so no one here can tell him how much it will cost

Depends on the value of your home.

It is impossible to answer your question on here. Your friend needs to contact a few insurance brokers and ask them the question

How long is a string? Same answer. Depends on the string. And, it depends on the house.

He may or may not be able to add a Valuable Article Floater to his policy. He needs to ask his agent and there is no way for anyone on here to know the premium he would be charged.
In general, thinks like this would be insured at a very low rate; at $10 of Valuable Articles, he may not even hit the minimum...

There are too many variables to answer this question. Instead of asking us to guess why not contact an insurance company for an exact quote.

This is not the place to find out. You contact your insurance agent and ask about adding a policy coverage for collectible items.

His house insurance guy will know for sure. But, in dollars, $15,000 would likely be around $100 a year give or take.

you call an insurance company and get a quote on THAT house - a lot of information is needed - you don;t just insure personal possessions - you have to insure the STRUCTURE of the house - if he just rents, call and insurance company and ask about renters insurance
