What insurance will cover reconstructive surgery?

Okay, so last weekend my mom was attacked by my dog (who has never had any aggressive tendencies). This was all brought on because she became protective on my other dog who was having a seizure at the time. After heading to the hospital and seeing a plastic surgeon there, he told her that she will probably need two reconstructive surgeries done due to the fact that the dog ripped off her upper lip. At the time she didn't have insurance and is now going through companies to try to get it covered because there is no way we can pay for it. So, what companies will help us, and cover the expenses of the surgeries? Please help, this is really urgent!

Nobody is going to pay for this. She didn't have health insurance, so any company would not pay for previous issues like this (different than a pre-existing condition).
If you live separately and she was at your home, she could sue you to recover and your insurance (assuming you have liability coverage) might pay.

That would be the liability insurance that you purchased for damage or injury caused by your animals.

You can't do this urgently. She's going to have to wait until the next open enrollment period, and buy health insurance then. It won't go into effect until January 1, 2017.

It was very unwise of her not to have health insurance. She can't get it now until the next annual open enrollment period comes around, thanks to ACA. BTW, if this incident happened at your house and she DID have health insurance, that insurer would likely come after YOU for subrogation (recovery of it's costs). Hope your homeowner or rental policy covers your dogs.

There is no legitimate health insurance you can purchase right now.
The open enrollment for health insurance in the US, begins in November and is effective on Jan 1 of the following year.
This is part of the law called the affordable care act.
Sorry this has happened to your mom.
She should look into charity care at the hospital or into a care credit credit card.

She should go after your homeowners insurance. Assuming she finds insurance, those companies will go after the responsible party (you) for payment.

If you yourself have homeowner's or renter's insurance, that will likely cover it, if you don't live with your mom.

Read what each company covers, that's the only way to find out if they pay for it. Reconstructive surgery due to an accident usually is.

No health insurance company will pay for a pre existing problem requiring reconstructive surgery. Your homeowners insurance might pay.
