your employer sends a copy to the IRS, you get a copy so you can check to make sure the information is correct

The IRS gets information from other sources that verify your coverage.
The insurance company will send the IRS the 1095-B information.
Additionally, if you work for a company with 50 or more employees, your employer also should have given you a 1095-C which is also sent to the IRS.

The form 1095-B is for your records. You don't submit with your tax forms.

You don't send it in. The employer or carrier sends it in. You just attest that you had coverage. The form just proves it bc the IRS gets a copy.
