I was going to add another vehicle on my insurance policy but my company says since it would be the third car on the policy I needed to add an extra person on the policy. Is this true? Can t find any material related to this question online.
The insurance company is a third party broker and I live in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Not true. You can promise them that you have disclosed ALL the licensed household members and drivers of the vehicles.
If, however, they run a report and it shows that you have another household member with a license, they can insist that the person be added to the policy. And yes, there is such a report. It catches a LOT of newly licensed teen drivers.

I don't know why '
Jay Leno has definitely more than three cars and I doubt he has a person listed on his policy for each

I own and insure three automobiles and I am the only person on the policy. Whoever this insurance provider might be could have such a policy requirement but it certainly is not a legal requirement.

I have 3 cars in my name & my insurance has no problem with it. Try going straight to an agent rather than a broker.

That's odd. I have been a single person with two vehicles, and now my husband and I own three vehicles. It's never been an issue. I know other people/couples who have more cars than people, and as far as I know, they've had no problems with the arrangement. Beverly S's advice on going to an insurance company's agent rather than a broker is a good one.

That is pure BS. My best friend is single and owns 4 cars. They are all registered to her name, and she carries them all on the same insurance policy.
Switch insurance companies.
Try Geico or Progressive

One policy can have up to 4 vehicles, but they may be questioning how the three are being used, especially if they are similar.
Try agents, but the reason for owning three does go into question.

That might be their policy, but it's not everyone's, and it's not a law. Many car collectors have several more cars than people insured.
