Public transportation injury and compensation?

I injured my shoulder on a public transit bus yesterday due to an accident with another vehicle. The bus driver wasn't negligent, but because he slammed on the brakes, I tore something in my shoulder. I do not have medical insurance, and because the driver apparently acted in a protective manner for the bus passengers, how will I my medical bill be covered? Is there some sort of responsibility/accountability for compensation from the transit bus co. seeing that they are public carriers?

Per your prior question, this was a 3 vehicle accident, that it appears that a truck driver swerved and caused this accident.
So (if) you are sore/hurt and if you have not seek treatment do so by going to the ER or to an urgent care that is opened 24 hours.
Then you need to contact the police that came to the scene, to find out (who) the truck driver is insured with. Once you find that information, then you contact that company and file an injury claim.
(I am not sure,) but your own (auto) insurance if you have one, .you can file a claim to pay for your medical bills, (if) you seek treatment, and (if) you purchased medical payment or PIP, will pay up to the limits you purchased. If the auto insurance does not cover, then if you have health insurance, will cover your medical bills.
You don’t state what state you live in, then another reason to talk to your auto insurance for advice. IF, your state allows an injury settlement, then they will (reimburse) you or your insurance for your medical bills, any lost wages and then adds pain and suffering. But that is contingent in what state you live, (if) you are eligible for an injury settlement or not.
The key is, if the bus company is not at fault (not liable) then they don’t owe for any medical bills/treatment, (only) the person who is at fault (pick up truck)
Good luck.

public transportation is covered with insurance
if there is a disclaimer posted in very plain signs that you ride at your own risk, you are covered by the bus company

Medical bills that occur because of vehicle accidents are normally supposed to be paid by the car insurance of the driver who caused the accident. If the bus driver wasn't negligent, and the driver of the other vehicle caused the accident, then you should be going after that driver, or that driver's insurance, not the bus company.

You will have to pay up front for your medical care. You might be compensated but, I can't say for sure. Even when people should be, they sometimes get scr*wed. You might have to hire a lawyer and sue. Even then, if the driver was illegal, you are scr*wed. A loser with nothing, you are scr*wed. A normal, decent person who just f*cked up - you might actually get your bills paid and then some.

Report it to the bus company. Their insurance might cover it, or the other driver's might.

It's not likely you'll see anything from the bus company, if they were not negligent. Maybe you can sue the other driver - along with everyone else on the bus - and try to get money from them.
