You need to read the policy. $15k is a relatively small amount of insurance, and it sounds like it could be what's known as a 'burial' or 'final expenses' policy, the type you often see on TV. These typically do not pay the full face value if the insured dies within the first few years of taking out the policy.

Ask your insurance agent to explain it to you, or read the policy. Nobody here can say why without seeing the policy

You bought a burial or final expense policy and haven't gotten through the contestability period. They might not give you anything based on the cause of death...

Did you ask the insurance company?
Where do you live? Contact the government agency that regulates life insurance companies. Talk to an attorney.

Theres probably a clause in there limiting you to how much you can get in a certain time frame. U need to ask them

It might have something to do with how long the policy has been in force, but we have no way of knowing. Why don't you simply ask them?

its what usually happens. they try to reduce the amount to as minimal as possible.
ask them. it could be something stupid and minor... like was your mom a smoker? and see if they already paid your moms funeral expenses. it usually takes around $10,000.

When was the policy taken out?
Most polices don't pay the full value if the person passes away too soon.
