No. But, if you have a catastrophic need - you can apply to have it partially covered.

so instead of asking people for their best guess, go online and apply for medicaid, you can do this through healthcare.gov or thought your state website

You can apply for Medi-Cal any time and you can look at CoveredCA insurance exchange and find a plan, where you can get a subsidized premium or tax credit. A lot depends on what county you are in.

You can apply for Medi-Cal, California's medicaid program. If you are recently unemployed you will likely not qualify. You need to have low income/no income over a period of time, not just "today".

Try Covered California. You missed the open enrollment period, but maybe losing your job will be a "life changing event". They can at least give you some free advice.

Yes. However, keep in mind that the use of a "program" often actually costs more than the insurance itself, so even if you get a big discount, you could be paying more money than it would have cost to get insurance without a program.
If you still want to get your insurance through a program, go to
https://www.coveredca.com/
to see what programs are available and how much they will cost you. If a very low price for insurance through a program is too expensive for you, then look into getting insurance without a program, which could be much less expensive.
