So i have a friend who s divorced and has full custody of her son. So she recently found out that her son s medical insurance card (health choice) has the wrong date of birth. And now her son is sick and since the DOB is wrong.. she cant use the insurance card. She s been asking the father to change it and he knows that his son his sick but still hasn t changed it. Is there a get around.. Cuz she "really" needs to get her son checked and they re not accepting the insurance. She s tried showing em divorce papers and her son s birth certificate to try and get em to change it but they say only the father can make changes. So is there some sort of a get around...pls help.

You can also just say that's his birthdate. Issue solved.

Yes. You don't use the card.
You take the kid to the doctor and pay the doctor using only money, and no card (or using only a credit card and no insurance card) and then you submit a claim later to the insurance company for reimbursement.

since he was probably ordered in the divorce court to provide health insurance go back to the divorce court and have them require him to correct it

If the divorce decree states that he is required to have the kid covered, then he is in violation and you can take him back to court. Only the account holder can make changes...so not you or anyone other than the father. Get some text messages (at the least) confirming his refusal to address this issue, he will be responsible for any bills accordingly.
You still take your kid for treatment, then deal with whoever needs to get paid later.

Go ahead for the check. Then send the bills to him. He might not know that even all of these, he has to pay the allowance anyway. So tell him, cash or correct the date of birth

I've never heard of such a thing being a problem. Does she have a divorce decree requiring him to provide insurance? If so and it doesn't work, does that really count as providing it?

If he son is sick and needs to go to the doctor, she takes her son to the doctor.
She pays for the visit. If she doesn't have the money, pay the bill for her and allow her to pay you back. Or find a clinic that is operated by the government, which is required to accept the child.
The custody decree should specific how medical bills are paid. If the father is not cooperating with this, the mother takes the father back to court.
