Pretty quick. Some good insurance companies will give you some time, a week to two weeks to get them your new car information. Call your auto insurance agent or company and ask them.

Usually just a day or so for the carrier to issue a new declarations page...assuming you provided what they requested. Some companies require more documentation, perhaps an inspection (usually, they just give you a week for an inspection, adding it assuming no damage), but it shouldn't take more than a few minutes if you have your paperwork in order.
A HUGE caveat though. If you have state sponsored insurance, that process can take a little longer. If you have subsidized insurance, then you cannot add another vehicle at all, you need to buy a separate policy, at least in some states.

A simple phone call to your agent with the VIN# and details about the vehicle are enough to get the vehicle added to the policy. Then you just need to take the vehicle to the agent's office within so much time (they will tell you how much) so the vehicle can be photographed, and that will confirm the addition.

I e-mail the VIN to the agent and it's done.

In the UK it takes the length of time it takes to request the change on the phone.

I have always been able to add another vehicle to my policy with just a phone call. It usually takes just a few minutes to give them the information.
The insurance company will bill you for the cost difference of the change in policy. You don't need money up front to make a change to an existing policy.
If your insurance company doesn't work that way, then you need a new insurance company.

About 10 minutes.
Maybe 20 minutes if the insurance company is busy and they put you on hold when you call them.

It's instant. As soon as you call and tell them to add the car, they'll add it effective with the time of your call. So if you think you can quick call after something happens and add a car, that won't work because it's effective with when you call, not earlier that same day.

As soon as you give the money unless you ask them for something unusual.

A few minutes. Call your insurance agent with the information.
