Depends on where you live...in many places, this is a separate line item like earthquake or wind, sometimes a completely different policy like flood.

Read the policy. If a such an event is not excluded in the policy language, it's covered, but that doesn't mean you won't have to fight with the company.

some do , some dont - depends on your policy
(if you live in an area known for sink holes its unlikely yours will, unless you pay a high premium, or have a huge excess
you need to look at your policy and the application you filled out- (There is often a question regarding "subsidence" in the application) - sink holes may be covered in their definition of "subsidence")

Read your policy. What mine covers doesn't count for you.

If your home were damaged by a sinkhole and you carry the sinkhole endorsement on your homeowners policy then this would be considered a covered loss. The other related coverage, which is included on most Florida homeowners policies, is known as “catastrophic ground cover collapse coverage.”Mar 5, 2013

Depending on the mandates established by state insurance regulators, sinkhole coverage can be offered either as an endorsement to a property insurance policy or as a stand-alone policy. Just as California property insurers offer optional earthquake coverage
Naturally occurring sinkholes are often viewed in the same category as earthquakes, or "ground movement." This means they're not usually covered by your standard homeowners insurance coverage. Depending on your insurer, sinkhole insurance coverage may be available as an optional add-on that you can request.
