You can't "leave" your mom's health insurance, but you can buy your own - just like you buy your own car insurance. You'll have to wait for the next open enrollment period.
It's not going to be cheap. Once the baby is born, you add the baby to yours - or buy the baby a stand-alone policy - and you just pay for it every month.

You're going to have to get your own health insurance, a family plan which will cover both you & baby. You'll have to research what's available in your area. Insurers are licensed by the state(s) in which they operate. And see if your employer has health insurance plan for employees & when the open enrollment is. The only likely "affordable" health insurance, especially for a family, is likely to be through your employer.

If your children need health coverage, they may be eligible for the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP). CHIP provides low-cost health coverage to children in families that earn too much money to qualify for Medicaid. In some states, CHIP covers pregnant women.

Everything depends on where you live. Are you living at home? Where's the father in this? Is your income low enough to qualify for ACA ( Obamacare) subsidies? If so , go to www.healthcare.gov. If not, stay on your mom's insurance as long as you can.

I have a feeling you are going to end up in your state s program for destitute kids...Family Care is one name for it.
Do either of you have a job? Once you give birth, that kid needs coverage. You can stay on your parent s plan, but the child cannot.

You can remain on Mom's policy but you must purchase insurance for the child or buy your own policy and put the kid on it. What does the father say?
