Yes, it is, and you would be very grateful fo have quality health insurance if you were in a horrible auto accident (could happen tomorrow) or were hit by stray bullet, or came down with cancer, or any number of other horrible fates that happen to people ALL THE TIME and are 100% GUARANTEED to happen to EVERY ONE OF US if we live long enough!
But it would be even better if government simply taxed the billionaire aristocracy enough to provide all the rest of us with FREE quality healthcare. Oh, you think you're gonna be one of those billionaires someday? LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL MORON!

No because not every cannot get insurance. We have programs to help those that can't but it's not a solution for everyone. Some cannot pay for state health plans because they make too much but not enough to afford private insurance.

Sure it is.
The ER is staffed by people who get paid to fix you.
If they don't get paid they starve and die. Your fines pay them so you can get help.
Get medical coverage instead of tax payer money.

It’s not fair. That is why President Trump got rid of it.

The good news for you, is that in January 2019, you won't have to buy health insurance anymore, since they took away the penalty
But, even though you "think" you don't need health insurance, then if you show up at the ER, then they must treat you. But if no insurance, then they will do the least amount, so they can discharge you. But if you end up with an illness, then ER won't treat you, thus you would have to find a dr/specialist and if no insurance or money, then they can refuse to treat you, even if you are dying.
You are betting on that you will not need insurance in the future, nor have any accidents, and you maybe right and make it for years, till one day, get really sick and then complain that no doctor will treat you, nor you can't just buy insurance (when) you want to for surgery or a serious injury (unless) it is open enrollment.
Your choice after 1/1/2019.

That provision has been removed from Obamacare.
But yeah, I think it's fair. In the US, the ER has to treat you whether you can pay or not. So who pays the ER? How much of what we all pay in insurance (and taxes!) goes to provide medical care for people who don't have insurance and can't pay out of pocket?
Conservatives are the one who are always whining 'Why should -I- pay?' Why should -I- pay for other families' kids' education? Why should -I- pay taxes for highways I don't even drive on? Why should -I- pay for refuge-seekers?
The state requires drivers to have car insurance for the same reason! Why not for health care?

When you break your leg you'll be the first one asking for help. My 7 broken ribs (in 2011) cost us $35,000. And that's WITH health insurance. What a joke, WAAAY before ACA.

That;s the Obamacare law that was passed. This will be the last year for it though, repealed as part of the new tax law, but still in effect for 2018 taxes filed in 2019. There are several exemptions though, so see if you meet one of the rules to be exempt.

Is it fair for me to pay for your injury when you are treated at the hospital and have no way to pay?? If they could deny treatment, I would see no harm in you failing to have a way to pay them...

right wingers would rather their tax money go into the pockets of the filthy rich instead of towards health care.

Nope. If I can't afford insurance I sure as hell can't afford a fine that gets me nothing at all.

Is it fair that the rest of us have to pay higher insurance premiums due to hospitals having to overcharge those of us with insurance to cover the losses of treating those of you who don't?
