Read one time that pregnancy is the reason for that. Pregnancy and gynecological heath issues are common, and expensive.

NO! I do not get pregnant you can, for one, also your insurance covers abortions most likely my does not, and the female risk of breast cancer is an issue too.

No, they figure out the actuarial statistics based on risk factor. Thats what insurance is supposed to be. All insurance discriminates like that including auto. If you are under 25 or over 65 you pay more.

They aren't in the USA.
Since adoption of the ACA in 2014, health insurance companies are not allowed to charge different rates based on gender.
What this means? Everyone pays the higher right not just females.
I think it's a crappy process.
Just like in the State of California, effective 1/1/2019 premiums based on gender is no longer allowed for car insurance. All that means is that the female rates are going to increase.

If their average expenses are higher...why is this an issue? Do you believe everything should be the same regardless of the cost? So, do you have an issue with charging old people more for health insurance??
Basically, you just want your insurance to be cheaper...without looking at the whole picture to understand why the prices are actually different.

I don't think it is wrong to set insurance premiums based on risk. That is a basic principle of how insurance works.

I'd like to see some evidence for that claim. It's certainly not true with employer group coverage - all employees pay the same premium regardless of age or gender.

Not really, since so much health care spending between ages 19 and 27 is for pregnancy, birth control, etc., that it's possible that the premiums might actually be proportional to the benefits received.

I don't care, I don't live in some 3rd World "shithole country" that doesn't have universal healthcare.

I'd like to see some supporting data that it's really 3x as much, but I could see how it could be higher given how pregnancy is a unique healthcare expense to women.
As for whether or not that's wrong, it's not any more wrong than teenage drivers having to pay higher auto insurance premiums than other groups who are less likely to incur costs.

I think that your claim is wrong and that premiums are the same at all ages. Being female is a pre-existing condition and premiums can't be higher for those. You may have things confused with car insurance but it is higher for males until the age of about 25.

Insurance agencies use actuaries to determine rates for various people. The fact is, if you've got a 25 year old woman and a 25 year old male, both of whom are healthy, which is most likely to wind up spending a few days in the hospital and perhaps even undergo surgery? Yep, the one who is capable of getting pregnant. Hospital stays and c-sections aren't free, ya know.
