That is the Medicare premium everybody on Medicare MUST pay. My wife's premium comes out of her SS check.
If your income is low enough, you can apply for Medicaid or the state's version of it and they might take over paying the $135.50 to the feds. But you have to apply for it.

You have to be a QMB, Qualified Medicare Beneficiary to get the state to pay your Part B Medicare and the 30% that Medicare doesnt cover. And that means your income must be below a certain amount. You can offset your income by factoring in your rent payment and out of pocket medical expenses. You ahve to speak to a case worker in your county.

Medicare you pay for unless you also qualify for Medicaid in which case Medicaid would past your Medicare premium

You don't unless you also qualify for Medicaid. Medicaid will pay the premiums if you qualify.

That is the way the system works. My premiums are deducted from my disability check. Contact social security to see what you can do.

The State of California is not taking your $135.50.
The federal government is "taking" it to pay for your medicare premium. Almost everyone who is on medicare pays this premium.
If you are earning less than $16250 (approximately) annually, you may also be eligible for Medi-Cal. In the event that you are receiving Medi-Cal, your medicare premium will stop.
