Eighteen people have been killed and a further 13 injured in a mass shooting in Maine, the state’s governor has confirmed. “This is a dark day for Maine,” Janet Mills, the Governor of Maine, said at a press conference. “This city did not deserve this terrible assault on its citizens on its peace of mind. By a sense of security. No city does. No state. No people.” Lewiston police have issued an arrest warrant for eight counts of murder for Robert Card, 40, and warn that he is “armed and dangerous”. Rachel Reeves accused of lifting passages from Wikipedia for new book

Rachel Reeves has been dubbed the “copy and paste shadow chancellor” after her new book was found to include a number of passages from Wikipedia. The Women Who Made Modern Economics, a 288-page guide to “overlooked” female economists through the ages, was published by the Labour frontbencher on Thursday. But manual checks by the Financial Times found that more than 20 sections in Ms Reeves’s book appear to directly reproduce text from elsewhere without acknowledging the original sources.
